Biography

Teaching

The most rewarding aspect of music is not performing at fancy venues or winning auditions but rather from witnessing his student’s growth. Isaac has been privately teaching violin since 2018 and has worked with students aged 4 – 68 and he enjoys every second of it. He loves prepping students for auditions, competitions, and recitals! Aside from private teaching, Isaac is currently an Instructional Assistant for the elementary string music programs in Manhattan Beach Unified School District. He is privileged to assist in teaching 4th and 5th grade string music education at all five elementary schools in MBUSD. Similarly, he is the violin Teaching Artist with Harmony Project – Expo. With Harmony Project, Isaac is fortunate to work with after school students from all over LAUSD. In this role, he teaches four levels of violin playing from introductory to advanced and also coaches multiple orchestras with the organization.

Music Education

Isaac’s passion for music began when he joined his middle school orchestra and chose to play the only instrument he knew the name of at the time – the violin. After three years of daily orchestra and self learning, Isaac auditioned for and was admitted to the Las Vegas Academy of Performing Arts High School, where his adoration for music continued to grow. After two years there, he moved states and took a short break from music. In his final year of high school, Isaac picked up his violin again and decided to pursue a career in music. He was accepted at California State University, Fullerton where he began studying violin with his first teacher, Dr. Ernest Salem. It was there that he learned the fundamentals as well as advanced techniques of violin playing and developed an ever deeper love of music because of the environment. At CSUF, Isaac was the recipient of the Yamaha Strings Award and a prize winner in the School of Music Concerto Competition. During this time he participated in masterclasses for renowned concertmasters such as Jorja Fleezanis and Glenn Dicterow, and acclaimed soloists Haik Kazazyan, Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi, and many more. After graduating from CSUF with his Bachelor’s of Music, Isaac pursued a Masters of Music from UCLA. At the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music he studied violin with Varty Manouelian and Movses Pogossian. He was also fortunate to receive tutelage from David Kaplan, Che-Yen Chen, and Wendy Richman. Thanks to his time at UCLA, Isaac developed a stronger sense of professionalism and musical courage.
